Solid Waste Authority
The Centre County Solid Waste
Authority Transfer Station and Recycling Center is located
approximately three miles north of State College on State
Route 26. The Transfer Station and Recycling Materials
Recovery Facility are open for public use. All persons using
the facility must follow traffic signs and basic safety rules.
Rates may vary depending on the type of material.
Hours of
Operation

The Transfer
Station is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Recycling
Center is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.
through 3:30 p.m. The Centre County Solid Waste Authority
observes seven holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth
of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, First Day of Deer Season, and Christmas Day. If the holiday falls on
Sunday, the Authority is closed the following Monday.
Also, if the holiday falls on Saturday, the Authority is
closed the Friday before the holiday.
Tip Fees
Tip fees vary for waste and
recyclables brought to the Centre County Solid Waste Authority
facilities. The Authority will accept a personal check or
cash. For those haulers licensed by the Authority, a revolving
charge account is established.

●Refuse/Waste
Minimum tip
fee for waste - $10.00 for up to 280 pounds Waste tip fee.
More than 280 pounds - $70.00 per ton
●Automobile Tires
Residentially generated automotive and small truck tires will
be accepted at the
following rates:
Minimum fee for tires
weighing up to 280 pounds - $10.00.
Tires weighing more than
280 pounds are pro-rated at $70.00 per ton.
Please call the
Transfer Station for information about
commercial quantities of tires.
●Metal Appliances
Stoves,
refrigerators, washers, dryers, air conditioners, and freezers
are accepted at no charge. Freon will be recycled at
no charge in refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners
for appliances brought in by Centre County residents.
Dealers will be charged $9.00 per appliance.
●Recyclables
Minimum fee of $1.00 for
up to 100 pounds of recyclable material.
Pro-rated at $5.00 per ton
for quantities over 100 pounds.
Clear, green and brown
glass, newspapers, magazines, mixed paper, OCC, steel and
aluminum cans, all plastic bottles are all
accepted.
For residential recyclables, a drop off site is provided at
no charge outside of the gate.
