Commercial Recycling
It's the Law
Commercial recycling is
mandatory in State College and Bellefonte Boroughs, the
surrounding Townships in the Centre Region as well as Benner & Spring
Townships. A number of commercial collection sites are available
throughout Centre County in addition to provisions at individual
businesses.
It's Easy
-
Prepare your
materials for
recycling by rinsing bottles and cans.
-
Deposit the listed
recyclable materials (un-bagged) in the specifically labeled
blue container.
-
Find your business's
recycling receptacle or the
Drop-Off Recycling site nearest you.
-
If you have any questions,
call the Recycling Hotline Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. at 238-6649.
It's Different
Though recycling at work is a
lot like recycling at home, there are some differences. The
biggest difference is in the kinds and quantity of materials.
Different businesses produce different
waste streams.
-
Offices make lots of white
copy and computer paper.
-
Retail stores generate
loads of corrugated cardboard.
-
Eating establishments
produce many cans and bottles.
-
Educational institutions
generate a wide variety of materials, depending on where you
are.
Those responsible for
recycling, must carefully plan for the differences in various
kinds of businesses and institutions. Receptacle size, placement,
and labeling are especially important. Be sure to have recycling
containers right next to trash containers. When given the choice,
most people will do the right thing!
