Electronics Recycling Does Compute in Centre County

Nearly 200,000 pounds of computers, TVs, VCRs and other consumer electronics were collected during Centre County’s Electronic Recycling Collection.  In all, 1559 vehicles brought consumer electronics from 2158 households.  Residents traveled from all 36 county municipalities to participate in this year’s special collection.

“The residents of Centre County came out in force.  Centre County’s environmental ethic is apparent in this weekend’s turnout,” said Joanne Shafer, Centre County Recycling Coordinator. 

This program was made possible by the cooperative efforts and financial support of the Centre County Local Emergency Planning Committee, Centre County Solid Waste Authority, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, National Recycling Coalition and Dell Computers.
